Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed has stated the real pioneers behind bringing Maldivian tourism sector so far is Maldives Association for Tourism Industry (MATI). The tourism minister made the remarks at the 29th Annual General Meeting of MATI.
Speaking at the ceremony, Tourism Minister Ali Waheed noted the role played by MATI in the tourism sector of Maldives, adding pioneers behind the success of the tourism industry. Highlighting the current administration depends on MATI to further flourish the sector.
Moreover, the tourism minister reiterated several projects are in the pipeline to improve the services provided in the sector. In this regard, the minister noted the changes will be brought to laws and regulations if needed, to further promote Maldives as a tourist destination. The Annual General Meeting held in Kurumba Maldives was attended by many members of MATI.
Since its introduction in 1982, MATI provided their service to almost all the travel and tourism related issues which arise in Maldives.
MATI coordinates with government and liaise with the organizations locally and internationally to solidify their member’s services and operations in the tourism sector.
