Local Government Authority (LGA) has handed over projects to develop island council secretariats in two islands to the respective island councils.
During a virtual ceremony held on April 1, LGA handed over the projects to develop council secretariats in Miladhoo, Noonu Atoll and Bileiydhoo, Faafu Atoll. The agreements were signed by the CEO of LGA Fathimath Afshan Latheef, and the presidents of the respective island councils.
Speaking at the virtual cermemony, CEO of LGA Fathimath Afshan Latheef highlighted the importance of the two projects, and assured the councils that LGA would provide all necessary assistance and cooperation to carry out the projects. Meanwhile, the councilors from Miladhoo and Bileiydhoo also described the projects as crucial for the development of the councils’ services.
The two projects are included under the PSIP budget of LGA. The authority has been handing over certain PSIP projects to the respective local councils, as per the Decentralisation Act.
