MTCC tasked with developing Kumundhoo harbour

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) with the design and development of the harbour in Kumundhoo, Haa Dhaalu Atoll. The agreement was signed by Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Hameed and COO Shahid Hussain Moosa.

The scope of the project involves dredging and excavation operations, construction of a revetment, a breakwater and installation of navigational aids. MTCC is tasked with completing the project within 210 days at a cost of USD 2.3 million. Additionally, Male' Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MWSC) began its project to develop a water and sewerage system in Kumundhoo in April.

Under the project, MWSC will provide water and sewerage connections to 480 households of Kumundhoo. The project was inaugurated in April and MWSC is tasked with completing the project within 18 months at a cost of USD 6.7 million.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih also pledged to conduct more development projects in Kumundhoo in his visit to the island in July. Kumundhoo has a population of over 2,000 residents and projects planned for the island include the establishment of a new school building and a police post.
